Ok guys i think its time to tell you guys something.
Precision and getting all your notes right are one thing.
The more important thing is to play with feelings and emotions.
The pieces have been given to you guys since last year.
Its well presumed that you guys should be able to get all the technical stuff right.
Like the rhythm, notes, fingerings.
Its time to get on to the next level.
That is to PERFORM the piece.
My conductor used to tell me.
Whatever that is written on the piece of score
is plain black dots.
It is how you play the black notes that matters.
Playing a song is like acting a play.
The actors are the musicians yourself.
the notes that you play are the scripts the actors are suppose to act.
And actors act with feelings,
so let your feelings and emotions run with the song.
When its time to be sad make your audience cry!
if its time to be happy, hipe your audiences!
For example, shrek dance party is a disco song
imagine yourself being in a disco,
how would you feel?
den put yourself in the shoes of your audeinces and make them feel the same as you do!
In any form of arts, YOU control the audience
you can make them laugh, cry and even jump off the roof(neh im just kidding about the jump)
So you see, it is very easy.
For those who do not understand what eiger or overture 1 is about,
go to the conductor's score.
flip to the front page,
there will be a description of the song.
read it, u will understand your parts better.
seriously. i have tried that b4, it works for me.
Another important point,
many of your are scared of SYF or any performances.
hey all of us are humans.
Even professionals get nervous.
Its how you hide your nervousness.
IF you go up the stage and play when you are nervous,
the audience can feel it.
A professional musician will hide all their nervousness.
and play with the feeling they want to portray to their audience.
Just relax and take it easy k?
Getting a gold or silver or bronze is one thing about SYF.
Wads more important is that you give yourself a chance
to have fun and to "act out the story"
so guys do your best k?
Whatever the results come out doesnt matter much anymore,
so long as you tried your best and dun regret ^^
GAMBETE!!!
so if there is anything else you wana clarify please feel free to approach
me every thursday during band prac ^^
